Vielen Dank für die Blumen
In her exhibition, Julie De Kezel explores the hidden beauty of the bouquet she received as an honour at the award ceremony in 2022. The exhibition takes visitors into a magical realm of a floral ovarium, in which six plant species are revealed in an alchemy-phantasm laboratory. With meticulous research, the artist has brought the detailed and hidden structures of the bouquet to life using modern tools, inspiring her to create fascinating sculptures, drawings and site-specific creations. With microscopic structures and imposing installations, she takes viewers into a playfully distorted world of flowers.
At the heart of the exhibition is a grimoire with six chapters, each dedicated to one of the plants in the bouquet. The chapters contain carefully compiled recipes from medieval scripts, scientific texts and personal notes, presenting enchanting spells and elixirs for strengthening in difficult situations. Between the chapters, visitors discover Julie's captivating works, inspired by the enchanting world of plants.
